Who We Are

Nereid Publishing is a company dedicated to creating and celebrating stories and storytelling. It was founded by five college students who are aspiring writers working on their debut novels. The first issue of their literary magazine, The Seafarer, titled, The Iris, was recently published and is available for viewing!

Regan Lauber

Founder

Regan Lauber is a Senior at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln majoring in English and minoring in Sociology. Ever since she was a child, she loved getting lost in creative worlds and stories and has evolved into writing her own. With a deep connection to coming of age tropes and discovering one’s true self, she has drawn to works of art that depict these important themes. She is currently working on her first historical fiction novel, We Were Told, and is hoping to achieve her dream of becoming a best selling author. Her favorite genres include mystery, gothic romance, and horror.

Luke Stursma

Founder

Luke Stursma is a fourth-year student at UNL studying acting and creative writing. Luke has always had a love of stories and hopes to dedicate his life to making them, not only through the medium of writing but through music, theater, and film as well. His love of stories is closely seconded by his love of nature and the outdoors. Luke is currently working on his debut speculative fantasy novel, Queen of Shadows, as well as a collection of poems.

Alijah Mallula

Founder

Alijah Mallula is a Senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln double majoring in English and Emerging Media Arts and minoring in Music Technology. Alijah has always been a reader, enjoying everything from fantasy to horror to science fiction, loving to get lost in any great story. She strives to be a published author and screenwriter as well as a sound editor and designer for games and film. Her hope is to tell stories on all different kinds of present and emerging media. Currently, Alijah is working on her debut novel, When Chaos Ensues.

Rebecca Ringer

Founder

Rebecca Ringer recently graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and minors in Biochemistry, English, and Math. Rebecca has had a love for reading fantasy, mystery, and fiction novels since she was a child, a love that has turned towards writing. She desires to create novels that explore complex human emotions such as love, trust, and betrayal, as well as discovering one’s potential. Rebecca is currently working on a debut young adult novel.

Meg Jenkins

Founder

Meg Jenkins is a recent English graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. From a young age, Meg has fallen in love with words and developed a passion for creativity. She aspires to create unique and dynamic stories while showcasing important themes of environmentalism, mental health, and body positivity. Some of her favorite genres include fantasy and science fiction. Meg is currently writing her debut fantasy novel, Withering Wings.
